Revlon's Wintermint

Hello friends!  I recently found and purchased Wintermint from the new Revlon Parfumerie collection.  The bottles for this collection are so adorable, just take a look!

Now I can not speak for the whole line but I LOVE Wintermint.  It goes on very smoothly and really does have a nice minty scent!  I used a topcoat and once it dried you could still smell the minty freshness just fine.  I love everything about this polish from the scent to the beautiful color.

I am looking forward to trying more from this line!  Thanks for reading and happy polishing!! xoxo Jaime

Mani Monday's Halloween

Happy Mani Monday!  This weeks theme is Halloween.  I had a rough weekend but still wanted to participate in Mani Monday.  I really did not feel inspired at all, but had seen many little mummy nails going around, so I decided to give it a try.  I think these are cute even though there was some smearing.  I think with a little practice I could really improve my little guys and hope to try doing girl mummies before Halloween is over.

I used Sinful colors Black on Black for the thick eye area and just used a smaller brush for the other black lines.  The white base is from Broadway nails, it is  called Snow White.  Don't forget to check out the other ladies and their Halloween inspired nails.  There are links to their blogs on my homepage and you could always stop by the facebook page  Mani Monday's.  Thanks for reading, Happy Halloween and happy polishing.

Two looks from the Sinful Colors Decorate Decadently Collection

I am a Sinful Colors Junkie!  I love all Sinful Colors collections and have never gotten a polish and thought this is awful or  what was I thinking by buying this one.  I think that is why they are my favorite.  They never fail me and they are so budget friendly as well!  I have been stalking Walgreen's just waiting to spot the new holiday collection which is Decorate Decadently.  I have had  no luck but my husband decided he would just stop in the Walgreen's by his work and just see and HE found them!  He was not sure what I wanted from the collection but took a great guess and brought home 16 shades for me.  It is needless to say that I will end up with all of the new shades in this collection and 2 of the re-promotes that I had missed out on before.

So I decided to spend the morning playing around with a few of my new friends. :)  First up we have Blue Steel and Top me Off.

Blue Steel is a metallic, which I have grown to love!  It is more of a foiled look and was opaque in one coat but I always do two.  I love a blue manicure and I love shiny glittery goodness so this is perfect and I am more than happy to have this in my collection!  On my ring finger I added an accent of Top me Off.  This is a topper  but it is pretty dense and with a few coats it may even become opaque as well but in my opinion (for whatever its worth) it would be great to go over any color you chose!  It is full of holographic micro glitters.

The next combination of polishes I decided to try are Triple Platinum and Full Spectrum.  These are both stunners in my eyes and I love them both equally!!

Triple Platinum Is another metallic polish with a more foiled finish.  It goes on very nice and smooth.  It is a tad sheerer than Blue Steel but it completely opaque in two coats.  It has a lovely almost lilac tone to it.  Full Spectrum is a beautiful glitter topper and my description will not do it justice at all.  It is full of round light pink or soft lilac glitters and holographic micro glitters.  It is so shiny and sparkly the glitter lover in me can hardly stand it!!!  I hope you have enjoyed a look at these polishes.  I really think it is a beautiful collection and will make for some gorgeous holiday manicures.  I will be doing more looks with this collection and will try to blog them all.  I am still getting into the groove of blogging every mani.  They all are always on my Instagram account.  Happy painting!!  xoxo Jaime

Rich in Heart

Happy Wednesday!  Today I want to show you a polish by Sinful Colors that I really have come to enjoy so far this Fall.  This is Rich in Heart.  Originally I purchased this polish just for the name alone.  I am a person who thinks you have to be kind in this world and use your heart in everything you do, so the name just made me smile.  Indoors this polish just looks like a reddish brown.  A nice color...sure.  I love browns for Fall.  Outside in the sun another side springs to life in Rich in Heart.  A beautiful side in my humble opinion.  A deep red/maroon with shimmery goodness reveals itself.

Indoors in Light box

 Direct Sunlight

I think this is a beautiful polish and at the always nice Sinful Colors price why not!!  I am happy that I picked this one up.  I have worn it 2 times this Fall already!  The name makes me smile and the beauty in the sun was a very nice surprise!  Happy painting!!

Mani Monday Gradient!!

Happy Mani Monday!  This week is gradient, which I just adore, so I was really excited about this week.  I am not even the best at gradients but I just love them.  I guess I have sorta fell into a gradient spot.  Really I prefer the look of a 3 color close in shade gradient.  Then top it all off with a glitter in a coordinating color,  because glitter makes everything better in my world.  As soon as I saw the gorgeous teal that Marianne sent me in our little swap I knew my gradient would be going teal this week!!

Here are the polishes I used to achieve my look this week.

The base coat I chose was Cutex Baseworks.  This base coat works just fine and dried pretty quickly.  My trio of shades were LA Colors in Meadow, China Glaze in To yacht to handle and another deep teal that unfortunately does not have a name on it.  I started with a coat of Meadow and then layered all three colors on a make up sponge and dabbed away. In all honesty, as you will see in my next photos, even though in the bottle the Meadow and To Yacht to Handle do appear to be different, once blended together it really looks as just two colors in my gradient. I then topped it all off with LA Colors glitter polish in Treasure Island and a nice coat of Seche Vite.

In the Light box

In full sun

Generally I do my nails at night and natural light is not an option unless I want to have the early morning sunlight, and I feel that changes colors and casts the pink/red glow.  This was pre-done so I could test my current method of using a light box against natural mid day sunlight.  I think my photos don't look to different than the mid day sun pictures and so far no complaints about the quality and my followers and readers are slowing growing.  It is exciting to have people that appreciate my hobby and what I do with it! This really is all for fun for me but I would like to have a nice blog and Instagram that people actually enjoy to read and look at.  As always thank you for reading, Happy Mani Monday and Happy painting!!

Mani Monday Canadian Thanksgiving

Happy Mani Monday!  Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers!  I was not exactly sure what I wanted to do for today but I did assume that Canadian Thanksgiving is pretty similar to American Thanksgiving.  Family and friends enjoying time together celebrating their blessings. My first attempt was a total fail.  I used mostly red and white and tried to do little maple leaves and my leaves looked like stars....total fail!  I decide to switch gears and go for Fall colors.  This is another fail!!

First of all lets talk about doing 2 coats of orange on the index and pinkie and cutting corners and only doing one on the ring finger because I was adding stripes anyway.  What happens...you end up with 2 different colors!  Next lets see maybe a little self control with the gold glitter stripper would have been better! Does one really need glitter on every nail? (yes...hehehehe)  Lastly lets look at these maple leaf tips on the pinkie and pointer.  Who was I trying to kid they look like chicken feet!!!!  This look had potential but it just didn't do Canada's Thanksgiving any justice!!

Here are the polishes I used to complete my chicken foot mani. :)  Sinful colors Laced Up, which is matte from the Leather Luxe collection, Revlon Hot for Chocolate, which I am not sure where I even got but it is a nice deep brown and I enjoy it and a Art Deco stripper in 24K Glitter.  Have a wonderful Mani Monday and I hope you got a chuckle from the chicken feet!!  Happy painting! xoxo Jaime

Mani Monday Fall nails

Happy Mani Monday friends!!  I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is having some nice fall like temperatures. Fall is my absolute favorite season.  We have lots of beautiful fall foliage here in Indiana along with crisp morning and evening air.  It is very refreshing after the long humid summers here.  I can take heat but the humidity gets to me.  Our summer was mild compared to the last few years but still lots of humidity.  Fall brings yummy smells like fires and freshly harvested fields and beautiful harvest moons and fantastic colors spread throughout the trees.  That brings me to another site I love to see....a whole new batch of nail polish looks!  All the deep jewel tones and browns and golds, I just love them!

I decided to go with a polish that I have been waiting to wear since purchased in late July or early August.  By now we all know I am a mostly drug store shopper and a Sinful colors junkie so I knew exactly the polish to pick.  I chose Sinful colors Leather Loose from the Leather Luxe collection.

 Matte

Topcoat

Leather Loose dries to a matte finish as do all the polishes in this collection.  This is the only one with the treasure of shimmers in it.  It goes on nice and is perfect in 2 coats.
I really really wish I had done my pictures during the day so that I could have gotten a better topcoat picture.  This picture does not do the beauty of this polish any justice at all.  I had a horrible time getting the beautiful gold shimmer that came to life once top coated.  This deep chocolate brown with gold just says fall to me.  I am not a fan of gold polishes on me, I feel silver is a much more flattering metal on me, however I love a pairing of dark brown and gold!  The gold studs came from Five Below.  Thank you for reading and Happy Mani Monday!  Don't forget to check out what all of our wonderful girls are doing this week https://www.facebook.com/manimondays Happy painting!!!

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  At the end of August I purchased three of the new Sally Hansen Inst-dri polishes from the Rent the Runway collection.  I have not been a big collector of the Insta-Dri line but I found three shades in this collection I just thought I had to have. On top of that I had Birthday money to spend...whats a girl to do!!!  I apologize ahead of time that two photos do have embellishments.  One was a nail challenge photo and the other was a NOTD.  Then I decided to swatch the third polish so I could share thoughts about them on my poor neglected blog!

First we have Quick Jeanius.  This is a beautiful blue with silver micro-shimmer throughout.  It really is a bright jean blue.  It applied very easily and was quick to dry as it should be. It went on evenly and I always do two coats unless its a sheer polish.  It looks a little goopy here but that was a top coat issue.  I use Out the Door which normally does just fine for me but it has not been doing well  lately.

Quick Jeanius

Next up we have my favorite of the three I purchased.  No-Spear Time is a beautiful olive green which I believe has gold micro-shimmers. It has a metallic look but goes on very nice.  In my opinion it is just stunning.  This was perfect in one coat but I added the second coat.  Again I do not own many Inst-Dri polishes so I am not sure if they are supposed to be one coaters but this one can be if you are in a hurry.  Top coated with Seche Vite this time.

No S-pear Time

Last but not least is Currant Trend.  This is my least favorite of the three.  It did apply well but even after two coats it still seemed to have thin areas.  This is a beautiful deep jewel toned purple with I believe silver micro-shimmer.  It was quick to dry as were the other two but I do feel a third coat may have been needed, meaning more dry time! Seche Vite was the topcoat for this photo as well.

Currant Trend

All in all these are nice polishes though they are not particularly unique or outstanding.  They are very nice colors and if you are loyal to the Insta-Dri line I am sure you would be happy with your purchases.  I would purchase No S-pear time again in a second.  Thanks for reading and Happy polishing!  xoxo Jaime
